Release: Poetry in Purgatory (v. 0.1.1)
Rise and shine, Dwellers!
Version 0.1.1 of Poetry in Purgatory is now available!
This is an interim update, which mainly focuses on bug fixes and quality of life stuff.
These updates are different from content updates, which are far larger and available earlier for patrons of Dweller tier and above.
Full patch notes below:
Bugs/Fixes
- Fixed a major glitch in which Isobel's character portrait would pop in randomly where it shouldn't (huge thanks to dondonpatapon of Visual Novelty for helping out with isolating this annoying issue).
- Fixed an issue where characters wouldn't move to their new positions if game events were being skipped by the player.
- Fixed an issue where the main quest entry in the log wouldn't update properly after progressing at a certain point close to the end of Act 1.
- Fixed an issue where you could infinitely repeat some of Bliss's dialogue in his room.
- Fixed an issue where the pamphlet information for certain entries would become illegible.
Typos/Aesthetics
- Fixed several typos, small inconsistencies and general errors.
- Removed the "return to main menu" icon from the menus when accessing them from the game's starting screen, since that button isn't functional when there.
- Lampy is now properly called by her name when hovered in Isobel's room.
- The time of day to activate some of Bliss's route steps has been changed to better simulate the passage of time.
- A "click to continue" prompt has been added to the first screen of the game.
- Ambient background sound has been added to your first journey through the tunnel to Purgatory.
- A new sound effect can be heard when a certain door opens.
- Bliss now has his choker and tattoos in the first CG of his route. They were mysteriously missing before (oops).
- Small color corrections and fixes have been made for the final main story CG of Act 1.
- Sheol's blinking animation has been smoothened out.
Changes/Improvements
- Added Android support. The port is still quite experimental so feel free to provide feedback on how it works or if you encounter any issues with it so that it can be improved.
- In the Android port there's a new button in the side menu (the menu where you can find the pamphlet, quest log and so on), which is used to open the main menu when exploring Purgatory.
- Added a new ??? entry to the Gallery in preparation for the future (heh heh).
- The character entry for (SPOILER) has been removed.
- Updated the credits roll with new Patreon members and a special thanks to playtesters + Alisa Rozanchugova (the original designer of Bliss).
- Removed the top menu, previously accessed by dragging your mouse cursor to the top of the screen. This one was a tough choice, because I really like the idea of activating a menu by being close to it like that, but it ended up causing various graphical issues and/or other things that just made things goofy. Ultimately, it's better to not have it at all if it's not working as intended and causes annoyance for the player. Instead, the options of the top menu (Save, Load, Log, Options) have been added to the quick menu at the bottom of the screen. The top menu (and its snazzy morality orb) isn't completely gone, however, as you can still see it when you're on the map screen.
Originally, I intended to push all these fixes alongside new content for version 0.2, but ultimately I feel like it's better to get this stuff out now so that the experience will be as clean as possible for newcomers. :)
With that, we're resuming work on new stuff for the next update...
Thank you so much for your ongoing support. It means the world to us!
All the love,
Tymedust
