Shortlist of Big, Upcoming Changes! - Weekly Devlog #10

Current game word count: 29,582 (+ 957 since last devlog)

This week has brought with it some huge developments for "Meanwhile in Riva"! :) With 50 downloads reached, and 30+ new Twitter followers, the game's presence in the online sphere is also taking slow and steady steps forward. I appreciate that so much! <3

Here's a shortlist of cool, new stuff coming up:

* Characters now zoom in slightly when they talk, making it easier to see who's up in a conversation
* Side portraits are now removed, as they were mostly redundant (except when talking to characters on the phone, in which case they are there instead of the full on-screen sprite)
* Side portrait of You added for when you have to make decisions - it's a different portrait depending on your chosen gender (male, female, non-binary)
* Jump scares can now be toggled on/off - choose your level of scariness!
* 3 new poses have been added for each of the 5 main characters, making the game a lot more lively
* Dialogue choices are now at the bottom of the screen, sort of like in Scarlet Hollow - I just love the way that looks
* The stats system has been removed and in its stead you'll find the trait system - I'm so stoked about this! Choose from 9 different traits that can be combined to form 27 different character builds, all offering unique dialogue and paths through the game! More on this in an upcoming devlog...!


So all in all, the new demo is shaping up to be a quite different, and much more improved, experience; a fitting companion to the launch of the game's Steam profile.
